about

In the not too distant future, mankind and machine alike are forced to reimagine transportation in the face of an increasingly fragile ecosystem. Without following through on plans to reduce our collective carbon footprint, we could potentially render the earth inhabitable in our lifetimes, not just for us humanoid creatures, but for all other forms of sentient biological and artificial life on Earth.

The personal impetus for releasing this work into the world started when my car broke down at the end of 2022, and I realized how reliant on it I had become over the years, not really by choice, but by necessity thanks to the social, civic, and architectural landscapes that we take for granted all around us in car-centric America.

Ikaros was written with the future of solar-powered travel in mind, both on Earth and in Space. Ikaros takes its name from a pioneering Japanese space telescope launched in 2010 which was the first satellite in the world to utilize solar sails- this droning progressive track finds you immersed in a confusing soundscape of mysterious sounds as you are transported to and from a futuristic subway station. Keep an ear out for unique binaural sounds that surround you in headphones.

Kessler Syndrome takes its name from the ongoing phenomenon of floating trash in space, which will pose hazards for future space adventurers as more experimentation with interplanetary travel occurs. The scattered and sparse melodies drifting over a cold and dark hypnotic techno rhythm evoke a sense of being surrounded by space debris. Brooding percussion reinforces the challenge involved in navigating a future where space travel becomes more and more normal.

Amplitude Modulation causes all sorts of interesting damage and fuzziness to any given sound. Making this track combined field recordings of a 1980s Sony Walkman AM/FM Radio and transforms them into a 303-driven dancefloor stormer, complete with squelchy acid chirps and crunchy, tough beats, engineered to help speed up your commute.

Programmed, Sequenced, Engineered, Produced, Mixed, Arranged, and Mastered by FreakyBro (Josef Fahmy) with Ableton Live from 2022-2023. Cover art rendered with Midjourney.
